How do I access SmartExam?

You can access SmartExam through your MyChart account and through https://greenville.smartexam.com.

I've logged into MyChart. What do I do now?

You'll need to select the "Schedule an Appointment" button on the home page. From there, you'll see the SmartExam option.

Can I use my phone or tablet to use SmartExam?

Absolutely. SmartExam is optimized for using all kinds of phones and tablets.

Will I need to have a camera or video?

You never need to use video for a SmartExam. For some conditions, we may want to see a picture to help us understand what's going on. If needed, you can use pictures from your mobile device or your computer. This will be helpful in your diagnosis.

How long does it take to finish a SmartExam?

It takes most patients about 5 to 10 minutes to finish their SmartExam. You'll be asked different questions based on your unique situation, so times can vary.

How long will it take me to get my diagnosis and treatment?

Between the hours of 8am to 8pm, you will be contacted within one hour after submitting the exam, if not faster. Keep in mind, SmartExam is accessible 24-7. If an exam is completed outside of our response hours, your information will be stored in a secure work queue to be reviewed beginning at 8am.

Am I being treated by a computer?

No. You'll always be treated by a licensed GHS provider. You'll get a personalized diagnosis and treatment plan that's unique to your symptoms and condition.

Will I be treated by my own doctor?

You'll always be treated by a licensed provider from GHS. We can't guarantee that you'll be treated by your doctor. We will always add your SmartExam information to your medical record and make sure your doctor sees what care you're receiving.

Is the care I receive through SmartExam included in my medical record?

Yes. You will also get a summary of your condition and a treatment plan to help you feel better.

Can I get prescriptions through SmartExam?

Yes. Your provider can order you prescription medications if they're needed. They'll be sent directly to the pharmacy of your choice.

What should I do if my pharmacy isn't on this list?

We're always growing our list of pharmacies. For now, pick the closest pharmacy, or choose a national pharmacy chain. National chains can transfer prescriptions to their other locations.

Will I be charged if you can't treat me?

No. If we can't treat you through a SmartExam, there's no charge and the system will guide you to schedule an appointment.

What will you do with my email address?

Your privacy is important to us. We will never share your email address with anyone else. Your email address is your login. We will send you secure messages regarding your health, and send you occasional updates about the system such as newly available conditions.

Can I use SmartExam when I'm on vacation?

You are free to use SmartExam anywhere in the state of South Carolina. We are currently unable to offer SmartExams to anyone located outside of South Carolina.

What browser should I use for SmartExam?

For desktops and laptops, you can use the latest versions of Chrome, Safari, and Firefox, and Internet Explorer 10+. On mobile devices, you can use the latest versions of Safari and Android Chrome.
